Seems like many of you are excited to get going on some fall classes -- you should have received an email, but classes are listed under the classes section of our website in the event you didn't receive our email.
On Saturday, September 8, Wayne Kollinger and Linda Hurd will be in the store to give a Trunk Show. Wayne and Linda’s bios are in the class schedule, but we are excited to have them join us for the Trunk Show and the Fall Line-up of classes. I’m sure the Trunk Show will be standing room only, so make sure you register early.
Some highlights of our upcoming classes:
Allison Spence returns to us with her Free Motion Quilting and Ruler Work classes, but will be adding a Wee Sew Wednesday series. This is focused towards kids Grade 1 and up who really want to learn to sew. Wee ones are invited to bring their sewing machines to learn proper etiquette with cutting tools (yikes!!), proper techniques, all while having fun with Allison. Allison has designed a program in which the wee ones have a chance to sew one item successfully, or may be motivated to sew all the six items Allison has planned – no stress to complete all six. Check out Wee Sew Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This will be followed by Wee Sew Christmas…
Joanne Deaver joins us again to teach the Detour table runner and placemat set. This is a great way to use up small bits of fabric, as the largest piece required is 0.8 meters or 1.2 meters for the backing fabric. Some of you may have “stash” that will work.
Wendi Kerr will put you through your serger paces in November. You thought your serger was only for finishing cut edges? … I’m sure you’ll be surprised at what it can really do. Wendi will also be teaching One-Block Wonder in Occtober – check the schedule to see when you can start learning to create this little beauty.
Wayne Kollinger is known for his disappearing block technique. I’m not talking nine-patch or four-patch…I’m talking like a churn dash or maybe a bow tie. Wayne will provide advance work to make a block, and participants will come to class ready to “cut up”, and I’m not talking laughter here. Wayne also will teach us the alphabet (or four or five!).
Linda Hurd loves working with her walking foot, and she has some amazing results – no Stitch in the Ditch for this gal! Join Linda for some very creative and stunning ways to finish your quilt, yet remain within the safe zone of your walking foot.
If you haven’t been in the store lately, come in and check out our new layout. We have filled our existing shelves (yet again!) and are waiting for more! I’m sure given time, we’ll fill any new shelves too!
Don’t forget to get your card for our Customer Loyalty Program. A reminder that the program only applies to full meter cuts of regularly priced fabric. Best of all, you don’t have to carry another card – we keep them here!
We have new fabric in the store – check out our new acquisitions as well as our new Christmas fabric. We welcome any and all who wish to just come in to pet the fabric! No slobbering, please.
Hope you have a fabulous remainder of the summer everyone – fall starts September 23”ish” officially. And don’t forget to register early for the classes.
