On Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, please join Sharon Blackmore of Love Shack Quilts as she teaches us all to "Dream Big". Yes, the Dream Big craze is still going, and here is your chance to learn how to quilt your Dream Big panel.
Saturday, June 22 (part one): Learn elegant feathers with variations, delicate pebbles and pearls, and dainty swirls with variations. This is a drawing day where you learn the fundamentals of these 3 design elements, how they work together, how you can jazz them up or just keep them simple, and how you can fill unusual spaces (just like the Dream Big petals!) with them. You will also learn some tricks to get more dimension in your quilts. You have the option of taking Part 1 of this workshop only, if you wish and all skill levels are welcome.
Sunday, June 23 (part two): Let’s apply all that we have learned in Part 1 and start quilting the Dream Big Panel! Sharon will show you how to plan, mark and quilt your Dream Big panel, and how to move from one section to the next with minimum travelling. Students should already be comfortable with some free motion quilting, be familiar with their sewing machine’s functions, and come to class with their Dream Big panel fully basted and ready for quilting.
As you know, Pinheads has a small"ish" classroom, so the first six people registering with full payment of $150 will be confirmed. Anyone thereafter will be waitlisted, and if the demand warrants, we may rent a conference centre for the training. Class requirements will be distributed upon payment.
Lori and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for not just supporting Pinheads as your local quilt store, but treating us both as if we're a part of your family. Over the short time we've been in business, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers, and we have built numerous strong friendships. We applaud your quilting endeavours, grieve with you when you're feeling ill or downtrodden, and laugh with you when you share a good joke or story. We look forward to many more adventures with you, and wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable Easter.
If you're headed to Red Deer for the Central Alberta Quilt Guild show at Westerner Park, stop by Pinheads to check out our notions. Saturday, April 6 ONLY our notions will be 20% off. Sale does not include batting but there are lots of other notions and knick knacks that may suit your needs. See you Saturday!
Headed north to the Red Deer Quilt Show? Why not stop in at Pinheads and check out our 60" plus wide backs ... we are offering 30% off on Friday, April 5 only. The offering includes 60" flannel, fleece and fireside, and 108" and 120" flannel and cotton. Don't dilly dally or you may be disappointed. See you Friday!
Good morning, all. We are so happy to enjoy a beautiful southern Alberta day.
We have lots happening in the store during April, May and June, so here's a brief summary.
From April 1 to 15 , all kits and precuts will be on sale for 25% off. That's right ... layer cakes, charm packs, jelly rolls, fat quarters and fat eighths, panels, and kits ... all are 25% off. Some items won't last, so be quick.
April 5 and 6 -- Central Alberta Quilters Guild Show, Westerner Park, Red Deer. Our store in Airdrie will be open during the event -- drop by to see what kind of treasures you can take home.
April 13 and 27 -- show us your curves with Linda Hurd. Linda will use the Mini Quick Curve ruler to demonstrate how easy it is to make beautiful wall hangings and quilts using curves. Class has one more spot available.
April 14 -- last day of Bernina's Trade In / Trade Up and 25% off Feet sale. For full details, contact the store.
April 28 -- Rozy Slimline Wallet with Gail Robinson. The Rozy Slimline Wallet has been a popular favourite for our local friends. Gail says she can almost make them in her sleep. While the current class is full, we will be holding this again soon!
May 4 -- Joanne Deaver will guide you making a cheeky Tiki Tote. This is a great catch-all bag for many occasions, and is based on a braid strip. This is a great project for using up scraps of fabric.
May 11 and 18 -- Beginning Quilting. This class is designed for the very basic, newbie sewers. We will be making a small baby quilt learning basic quilting techniques along the way. There are still spots available in the class.
June 8 -- Christina Waldner will introduce you to bag making using the Celine Bag pattern. There are still spots available for this class.
May/June -- We are pleased to have Sharon Blackmore join us to help you free motion quilt your Dream Big floral panel. First day of class will be pinning and marking your piece; second day will be quilting under Sharon's tutelage. Dates to be confirmed -- watch our website for details.
As always, we have new product coming in daily. Check out our Products tab for new items and our on-line store.
